So far the baseball season this year has featured some unforgettable moments via outstanding pitching. One particular phenom has jumped out of the gates with ten wins and only one loss.  His earned run average is staggering, but the craziest performances in 2010 have been all of the perfectly pitched games. If you are not familiar with a perfect game, basically the guy throwing the ball has to face no less than twenty seven hitters, plus he must get all of them out.  This means he can not walk a batter, and his team mates can not record any fielding errors.  Basically the pitcher has to be spotless and so does the rest of the team. Up until this year, there were only eighteen perfect games thrown in the MLB, and this record has been kept track of for one hundred and twenty years! So even though we are only half way through this season, there have already been two perfect games, and almost a third, all by different pitchers.  The third game is the one of most importance because by no fault of the pitcher did he lose a perfect game, but all because of a blown call by the umpire. The unthinkable happened.  The last out of the game. The batter hits a weak ball and darts to first base wearing his Jordan shoes taylor made for him.  Unfortunately the shoes did not help.  The throw is made half a step before the batter gets to the first base, BUT the veteran umpire called him safe! The crowd looked in horror as their hometown hero grinned and climbed back on the mound to do it again. This type of behavior is rare in the world of professional sports, but it is nice to see that class still exists.
