The next man to challenge bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz for his title will be former WEC reigning champ Urijah Faber next fight. Faber has said that this is his ultimate dream to capture a UFC title. Faber was unsuccesful in his first attempt against featherweight champ Jose Aldo when making the UFC transition as he ate numerous viscious leg kicks that put Faber in the hospital with a purple leg. Faber’s second opportunity also came recently when he fought Cruz for the bantamweight title. Again, Faber was close, but lost due to points, getting out striked by Cruz who has a 2 inch reach advantage over his shorter opponent. Now with Faber on the comeback train defeating a tough former champ in Brian Bowles with an amazing first round rear choke, he is right back in title contention.

Faber is in rare form a underdog for the bout according to the odds makers. Urijah Faber will now probably use this to fuel his fire. Faber knows what it is like to hold a UFC title and will probably be hoping to once again claim and reign as champ again. Faber may be a bet booking underdog but the fans behind Urijah Faber is as strong as ever. News of his Sister’s severe car accident rallied many fans behind his family to help them through this tough time. Faber even went as far as to shave his famous head of hair to match his bald Sister, post operation for her brain damage suffered during the accident.

Alistair Overreem was scheduled to be making his first Strikeforce heavyweight title defense in a rematch against Fabricio Werdum at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg, but had to pull out yet again due to another hand injury that was reported to be caused by a drunken night club brawl.

Overeem then went on to take down Tony Sylvester at Golden Glory’s  10 year anniversary celebration with an amazing standing guilotine choke. Then a little over a week later, he used the same choke technique against James Thompson where he submitted him at Dream 12.

Overeem once again set out to face Brett Rogers on May 15 th 2010 at Strikeforce: Heavy Artliary, where he would defend his Strikeforce heavyweight championship title. He wont the bout by technical knock out via punches, in the first round. In his interview after the fight Alistair Overeem UFC stated once again that he wanted to fight the famed Fedor Emelianenko stating that Fedor’s managment company could no longer ignore who he was. Leading up to the fight, most of Overeem’s trainng  was at the new Golden Glory Gym in Pattaya Thailand, where he worked on his Muay Thai skills.

Alistiar then went on to face Todd Duffee on December 31 2010 at Dynamite! 2010. Overeem of course defeated Duffee in his standerd brawler fashion via knock out in just 21 seconds of the very first round and went on to win the Dream Interrim Heavy Weight CHampionship. What will be next for the Dutch Brawler? Wait and see.

Before actually entering the 2003 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix at the Pride Total Elimination 2003, he won two more fights in the regular Pride FC fight league. In his fight at the Pride Total Elimination 2003, he lost to future and now former UFC light heavyweight champ Chuck The Ice Man Liddell in the quarter final fight match.

After this loss, Alistair Overeem made his awesome come back where he defeated Tomohiko Hashimoto at the Inoki Bom Ba Ya 2003 event in just 36 seconds of the first round. On October 31st 2004, Halloween day, Alistair Overeem fought Hiromitsu Kanehara, where he took him down via technical knock out half way throught the first round of the fight at Pride 28. Unfortunately he lost his next fight against a Brazilian Top Team fighter Antonio Rogerio Noguiera.

Two years later in 2005, he entered the Pride Middle Weight Grand Prix at the Pride Total Elimination 2005 event. At the event Alistair Overeem defeated formed UFC light heavy weight champ Vitor Belfort via submission, once again in the very first round. He then went on to fight and defeat Igor Vovchanchyn in the quarter finals  at the Pride Total Elmination 2005, where he took him down and submitted him in two minutes in the first round.
